URL component mode.

Choose the right URL encoding mode

  1. Choose Encode or Decode.
  2. Choose the mode for your input, then paste text and review the live output.
  3. Copy or download the result. Malformed escapes are reported instead of silently replaced.

Component, complete URI, and form value

  • URL component uses encodeURIComponent and decodeURIComponent. Use it for one query value or path segment: tea & coffee becomes tea%20%26%20coffee.
  • Complete URI uses encodeURI and decodeURI. Separators such as :/?&=# remain structural. On decoding, reserved escapes such as %2F stay encoded.
  • Form value follows form component rules: a space becomes +, and a literal plus becomes %2B. Decode turns plus signs into spaces. Encode one value at a time; this mode does not parse a whole query string.

Common mistakes and limits

Encoding an already encoded percent sign encodes it again. Decode only once unless you know the data was encoded multiple times. This tool transforms strings; it does not validate, open, or fetch URLs. Conversion runs locally and supports Unicode. Invalid percent escapes and invalid UTF-8 sequences produce an error.
