Write metadata for one page

Enter a title that names the page’s topic and a description of what visitors can find. Add its preferred absolute canonical URL, choose the robots instructions, and copy the HTML into the page’s <head>. Replace existing equivalent tags to avoid duplicates.

The output escapes quotation marks, ampersands, and angle brackets. Empty optional fields are omitted. For a bicycle maintenance page, a title such as “How to repair a flat tire | Cycle Workshop” tells readers what to expect.

Read the preview as an approximation

Search engines can rewrite titles and descriptions or truncate them differently for each query and device. Character counts help with editing; they are not fixed search-result limits.

Choose indexing instructions carefully

  • index, follow permits indexing and link following. It does not guarantee either, or a particular ranking.
  • noindex requests exclusion from supporting search engines. A crawler generally needs access to the page to read it, so a robots.txt block can prevent discovery of the instruction.
  • A canonical link identifies your preferred version of equivalent content. It is a signal, not a redirect.

This tool checks URL syntax locally. It does not fetch pages, inspect existing tags, or verify indexing. Use the Open Graph Generator for social cards or the Robots.txt Generator for crawler path rules.
